CD Companies would like to congratulate Structural Designer Ricky Kennedy on passing the Vertical Forces portion of the Structural PE Exam!

The SE Exam tests your ability to competently practice structural engineering and is specifically designed for engineers who practice in jurisdictions that may license structural engineers separately from other professional engineers.  The exam is a 16-hour exam made up of two 8-hour components, the Vertical Forces portion, focusing on gravity loads and lateral earth pressures, and the Lateral Forces, focusing on wind and earthquake loads.

Ricky earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from The University of Notre Dame in May 2011 before going on to earn his Master of Science in Civil Engineering from The University of Cincinnati in December 2014. Ricky started at CD Companies, CASCO division in December 2016 and quickly became a key member of the structural department working on various new construction and renovation projects. He notes that his favorite projects are “design projects that have unique challenges, especially when working with a good team.”

Ricky looks forward to passing the next portion of the SE Exam, but notes that he doesn’t want to get too ahead of himself. He is hoping that he will be a licensed Structural Engineer within the next year or two.

Outside of work and test prep Ricky enjoys spending time cycling, playing board games with friends, and visiting microbreweries.

On behalf of everyone at CD Companies we are so proud of you, and we know you will do great on the next exam! We’re happy to have you on our team.
